A dislocation occurs when a bone is forced out of its normal position. Dislocation is usually caused by trauma such as a fall, car accident or a collision. Adults usually dislocate the shoulder, which is very mobile and therefore susceptible to being dislocated. Children usually dislocate the elbow.
